9500 Shelter Lighting System

The 9500 Shelter Lighting System will be the latest addition to the R.A.L.S. family of lighting solutions. It provides soldiers with safe, secure and silent LED interior shelter lighting in either white or red light. The system is extremely rugged and deploys quickly. It contains three red/white LED light heads, universal power supply, inline switch, fixing straps and a series of color coded industrial grade connecting cables. Light heads are linked together and secured via hanging straps inside the temporary shelter/accommodation. The light output color (red or white) is selected via an inline switch and each light head can be independently switched on or off. The system is powered by the enclosed universal AC power supply or by an auxiliary 12-30 vdc power source such as the 9430 or 9460.

Pelican’s new 9500 Shelter Lighting System (SLS) uses 36 (24 white/12 red) tough LED lamp modules to instantly switch from white to night vision-safe red light. Personnel can perform command and control duties while maintaining natural night vision and also reduce exposure to the enemy.

Military grade connectors link 3 in-line units which terminate in a 12V DC /120V AC converter. Power is via a generator-based supply or directly from a 12V DC source, including Pelican’s 9430/60/70 series Remote Area Lighting Systems (RALS).

The 9500 SLS is tested to a 3 meter concrete drop-test, offering survivability not found in florescent lighting. And because Pelican’s proprietary LED lamp modules have an operating life of 50,000 hours, replacement bulbs are eliminated from the supply line. The 210˚ diffused beam spread provides 2,000 lumens (400 lumens/red LED) of even white light, without the strobe and dimming found in current shelter lighting.

The 9500SLS can be rolled up with standard military style shelters to reduce deployment time (Current fluorescent bulb shelter lighting is larger and heavier than desired. Due to the size and fragility of the bulbs, they can’t be rolled up with the tent)

Compact in size when compared to competing lights which makes it easy to handle, use and transport the light

Can be powered by any RALS (Remote Area Lighting Systems) or any auxiliary battery in case of power failure. Can also be powered by a 110V AC generator or other conventional 110V AC power sources

Better visibility in very low temperatures when compared to fluorescent bulbs

No hazardous material in the light source like mercury, antimony, etc unlike fluorescent bulbs
